Mary and Jan

[Verse 1]
Some love is loud, some love is quiet
Some love just waits and prays
She held on through the long nights
While he served on far off waves
A coastguard home to Baltimore
A first apartment and brand new days

[Chorus]
It's a ring that has no ending
Fifty-seven years strong
Through the good and through the bending
Faith has kept you holding on
Mary and Jan, side by side
That's where love belongs

[Verse 2]
A little house in Carver
Three children filling up the halls
He worked hard to provide for them
She stretched each dollar through it all
When money didn't matter anymore
Being together still meant most of all

[Chorus]
It's a ring that has no ending
Fifty-seven years strong
Through the good and through the bending
Faith has kept you holding on
Mary and Jan, side by side
That's where love belongs

[Bridge]
Cruises, Italy, Irish green
Aruba sand, a day out on the boat
Seven grandkids and a great grandbaby
Side by side is home, you know

[Verse 3]
Dad taught the grandkids how to fish
And how to keep a motor right
Mom, a nurse, taught us to cook and sew
And love with all our might
Through these last hard years you've weathered storms
Now home in Centerville, still hand in hand

[Chorus]
It's a ring that has no ending
Fifty-seven years and still going strong
Through the good and through the bending
Faith has kept you holding on
Mary and Jan, side by side
That's where love belongs

[Outro]
Eighty years and seventy-eight
A ring that has no end
Happy birthday, Mom and Dad
Your love lives on in all of us, amen
