Brandy Bug

[Verse 1]
Some friends drift by like passing seasons
Some stay through every storm and sun
You always tell it like you see it
No sugar coating, just the truth to come
Fifteen years we worked together
Twenty five years, and we're not done

[Chorus]
Day or night, you'd come running
Never asking why or when
Through the dark you kept on coming
You're my family, more than friend
Named for a song about a fine girl
Brandy Bug, you're my strength again

[Verse 2]
You're the age of my own children
Still our friendship held its ground
Though your arms ached for a cradle
You were first to come around
Every shower, every blessing
First to cheer my five grandbabies on
Asking how my girls were doing
With a heart so big and strong

[Chorus]
Day or night, you'd come running
Never asking why or when
Through the dark you kept on coming
You're my family, more than friend
Named for a song about a fine girl
Brandy Bug, you're my strength again

[Bridge]
So I prayed for you on bended knees
God had a plan we couldn't see
He sent you far across the sea
To where your daughter waited

[Verse 3]
Home you came with Hannah Elizabeth
Wrapped in love and in your arms
I said you weren't just any mother
You were hers, and hers alone
We don't know the plans God's writing
But this road was yours to own

[Chorus]
Day or night, now she'll come running
To the arms that waited then
Every tear and every prayer
Brought you home, and home again
Named for a song about a fine girl
Brandy Bug, you're a mama, my friend

[Outro]
Day or night, I'll still be calling
And I know you'll still come through
Every hope I ever prayed for
Found its way back home to you
