Katelyn

[Verse 1]
There's a porch light on in December
And the kitchen smells of Gram's mac and cheese
Raisin cookies cooling by the window
Carols drifting on the breeze
Now I watch you hang the ribbons
Just the way your Gram would do

[Chorus]
Oh Katelyn, you carry the light
Every candle, every holy night
You took what was handed down with love
And made it shine like stars above
I'm so grateful, I'm so proud
God gave me a girl like you

[Verse 2]
Every year at Dot the Halls
You honor her with all your heart
I swear I hear her laughing
Like she never did depart
And Bob keeps you grounded
When the days are moving fast

[Chorus]
Oh Katelyn, you carry the light
Every candle, every holy night
You took what was handed down with love
And made it shine like stars above
I'm so grateful, I'm so proud
God gave me a girl like you

[Bridge]
I still see you on the ice
Gliding, spinning, wild and free
They may have called you Puddles
But you were solid ice to me
And then came Logan, sweet and small
My biggest blessing of them all
Someday he'll hang those ribbons too
'Cause he learned it all from you

[Verse 3]
You became a wonderful mother
A daughter, a partner, a friend
You kept the old traditions living
So the love would never end
And I know your Gram is smiling
Every bit as proud as me

[Chorus]
Oh Katelyn, you carry the light
Every candle, every holy night
You took what was handed down with love
And made it shine like stars above
I'm so grateful, I'm so proud
Your legacy will carry through

[Outro]
Porch light on in December
Raisin cookies, ribbons true
Oh Katie, there's a little more heaven
Every year because of you
