Rick

[Verse 1]
The sun came up on a thousand dusty roads
Coffee in a thermos and a heavy load
Forty years you punched that clock and never once complained
But you never missed a game, Rick, sunshine or rain
Front row in the bleachers so the kids would know

[Chorus]
You gave us a home, you gave us a life
Every dream we dreamed, you made it come true
You've been my strength, my guide, my light
Now it's time for you
You may not be perfect, that's plain to see
But you're so perfect for me

[Verse 2]
Muddy cleats by the door and a ballpark sunset glow
Tie still on, slipping in for the school program show
Every bill you paid and every lunch you made
Built the ground we stand on, every brick you laid

[Chorus]
You gave us a home, you gave us a life
Every dream we dreamed, you made it come true
You've been my strength, my guide, my light
Now it's time for you
You may not be perfect, that's plain to see
But you're so perfect for me

[Bridge]
I've leaned on you for everything
Through every storm and every spring
So set it down, that heavy load
Now you can lean on me down this road

[Verse 3]
No more alarms at the crack of dawn
Just a porch swing creaking and a fresh cut lawn
Rick, you've earned every minute of this rest
This next chapter's ours, so take my hand
I'll be the steady ground where you can stand

[Chorus]
You gave us a home, you gave us a life
Every dream we dreamed, you made it come true
Forty years of strength and steady light
Now it's time for you
You may not be perfect, that's plain to see
But Rick, you're so perfect for me

[Outro]
Hang up those work boots, darlin', come sit with me
You're still so perfect for me
