Richard Lockette

[Verse 1]
Some men talk about forever
Some just let the moment pass
But you stand tall like steel and thunder
Built to weather, built to last
Forty-five years, and still I feel it
Every time you walk through that door

[Chorus]
You are the wind beneath my wings
The steady hand, the quiet strength
You never promise what you can't bring
Your word is gold at any length
Happy birthday, my forever
You're the comfort in my soul

[Verse 2]
Thirty years in Air Force blue
You served with honor, stood so proud
No nonsense, Richard, always true
You say it once, and say it loud
You defend me when it's hard
Hold our daughters in your heart

[Chorus]
You are the wind beneath my wings
The steady hand, the quiet strength
You never promise what you can't bring
Your word is gold at any length
Happy birthday, my forever
You're the comfort in my soul

[Bridge]
When a veteran needs a hand
Or a widow's lost her way
You fight to get them what they earned
You never turn a soul away

[Verse 3]
You still come home with shopping bags
A little gift, no reason why
At 82 you still can make
This heart of mine light up the sky
So here's to you, Richard Lockette
Let's reach one hundred, you and I

[Chorus]
You are the wind beneath my wings
You heal my hurts, you calm my storms
You never promise what you can't bring
Your love's the place that keeps me warm
Happy birthday, my forever
You're the comfort in my soul

[Outro]
A man of his word, my whole world
Richard, you're my everything
