Linda K Brown, My Love

[Verse 1]
The evening paints the window gold
The house is quiet, soft, and still
I keep the hand I used to hold
Of one who lived with heart and will
You wore the reds, the blues, the light
Your smile made every color bright

[Chorus]
Sleep now, Linda, rest your heart
In colors soft and bright
You are the joy of my life
God's greatest gift, my light
I love you with all my heart
Sleep now, my love, goodnight

[Verse 2]
You ladled soup on winter nights
For weary men who came in cold
You gave the young their wings and flight
And dreams they'd never dared to hold
They still reach out to tell me so
Your love is something they still know

[Chorus]
Sleep now, Linda, rest your heart
In colors soft and bright
You are the joy of my life
God's greatest gift, my light
I love you with all my heart
Sleep now, my love, goodnight

[Bridge]
When shadows clouded all your days
You stayed so gentle and so kind
Your courage glowed through every haze
Your heart remembered what slipped your mind

[Verse 3]
You'd say the thing we'd never guess
And laughter filled up every room
Our family was your happiness
And now you've gone ahead to bloom
In colors brighter than before
Where joy is yours forevermore

[Chorus]
Sleep now, Linda, rest your heart
Wrapped in heaven's light
You are the joy of my life
God's greatest gift, my bride
I love you with all my heart
Till morning, love, goodnight

[Outro]
Hush now, the colors fade to gold
Your smile still lights the way
I'll love you, Linda, all my days
Until that brand new day
