Harriet

[Verse 1]
Some moments stay forever,
like a light that never fades,
a door swung open softly
on a simple, ordinary day.
You stood there at the top of the stairs,
and I knew right then, I knew.

[Chorus]
So here's to you, my darling girl,
eighty years of shining through,
the heart that holds our family,
the hand that guides us too.
Of every choice I've ever made,
the smartest one was you.

[Verse 2]
You made a home with open arms
and a kitchen full of light,
you raised our children gently,
kissed their worries all goodnight.
And every friend who needs a hand
still finds you, Harriet, there.

[Chorus]
So here's to you, my darling girl,
eighty years of shining through,
the heart that holds our family,
the hand that guides us too.
Of every choice I've ever made,
the smartest one was you.

[Bridge]
Fifty years in two more months,
and you're still my very best friend,
the one who leads me home again
whenever roads would bend.

[Verse 3]
A wife, a mother, all I dreamed,
and more than I could ask,
you poured your love in all of us
in every little task.
So make a wish, sweet Harriet,
and I'm still standing at that door.

[Chorus]
So here's to you, my darling girl,
eighty years of shining through,
the heart that holds our family,
the hand that guides us too.
Of every choice I've ever made,
the smartest one I made was you.

[Outro]
Happy birthday, Harriet,
from the top of those old stairs,
my whole life started there,
and I'd climb them all again.
