Gordon

[Verse 1]
Some prayers get answered in a whisper
Some come walking down the hall
Mine came under hospital lights
When I wasn't looking for love at all
One glance and something settled in me
Like heaven heard me after all

[Chorus]
You're my steadfast love through all these years
My best friend, always standing near
The way you love me and our family
Is the strongest thing I've ever seen
Gordon, you're the answer to my prayer
And I thank God you're always there

[Verse 2]
I see you out there making knives
With patient hands and grinding steel
Every edge you shape with care
Shows the kind of man that's real
And when you look up from that bench
That grin still warms this heart of mine

[Chorus]
You're my steadfast love through all these years
My best friend, always standing near
The way you love me and our family
Is the strongest thing I've ever seen
Gordon, you're the answer to my prayer
And I thank God you're always there

[Bridge]
Our kids and grandkids fill this house
With laughter, noise, and grace
And every one of them has learned
What love looks like from your face

[Verse 3]
Someday when the road gets quiet
And our final mile is through
We'll walk home hand in hand together
Under skies of endless blue
Jesus will be waiting for us
And Wendy will be smiling too

[Chorus]
You've been my steadfast love through all these years
My best friend, always standing near
The way you love me and our family
Is the strongest thing I've ever seen
Gordon, you're the answer to my prayer
And I thank God you're always there

[Outro]
Gordon, every year with you
Is a prayer that's still coming true
