Doug Giles

[Verse 1]
Eighty years of sunrise gold,
A life well-lived, a story told.
You wake up smiling, greet the day,
With that easy grin that lights the way.
And somewhere on this winding road,
A salesman came and stole my heart of gold.

[Chorus]
Oh sweet pea, what a ride it's been,
Twenty-eight years and I'd do it again.
You gathered a family, an ohana so true,
And every good thing, it started with you.

[Verse 2]
We chased the world from shore to shore,
Every new horizon, then a few dozen more.
You'd tell me twice, and I'd just grin,
"I got it the first time" — like way back then.
The very first words that I gave to you,
The day I knew my whole life would be new.

[Chorus]
Oh sweet pea, what a ride it's been,
Twenty-eight years and I'd do it again.
You gathered a family, an ohana so true,
And every good thing, it started with you.

[Bridge]
A husband, a father, a grandfather kind,
The gentlest soul that I ever will find.
Happy birthday, my Doug Giles, my love,
You're every sweet blessing sent down from above.

[Verse 3]
So here's to the laughter, the love that we share,
To your bright morning heart and your silvery hair.
The people you've held, near and far,
Doug Giles, you know just how loved you are.
There's more roads to wander, more sunsets to see,
And I'll always be right here beside thee.

[Chorus]
Oh sweet pea, what a ride it's been,
Twenty-eight years and I'd do it again.
You gathered a family, an ohana so true,
And every good thing, it started with you.

[Outro]
Happy birthday, sweet pea, my love,
Eighty years and the blessings above.
